COGCC - Wattenberg Gas Field: Undifferentiated Field Boundaries
Creator(s):
Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission
Description:
The COGCC_WattenbergField shapefile represents the approximate boundary of the Wattenberg-Undifferentiated Field. This field occupies over 1500 square miles and is made up of thousands of wells that are completed in several Cretaceous-age formations above the base of the Dakota. This field has been named Wattenberg-Undifferentiated because no attempt has been made to group the wells in this field into discrete fields. Historic fields like Spindle, Aristocrat, Hambert, and others, which occupy the same space as Wattenberg, have been discretely defined and are included within the COGCC_Fields shapefile.
Users of the COGCC_WattenbergField shapefile should also download and use the COGCC_Fields shapefile to get the complete picture. Users should display the COGCC_Fields polygons on top of the WattenbergField polygon.
This field occurs within the Greater Wattenberg Area (GWA) with specific rules for oil and gas development. Please refer to COGCC Rule 318A to learn more about the GWA.
