Description:
The Colorado State Indemnity Selections data set was generated using records extracted from BLM’s LR2000 case record database. The BLM and the Colorado State Board of Land Commissioners are seeking to satisfy the debt owed to the state for lands it did not receive under its Statehood Act of 1876, due to other rights or reservations encumbering the lands. The federal government owes the state approximately 9,000 acres or its equivalent value. The record selection criteria specified the serial case numbers of the two case files for both surface and mineral, and mineral only state indemnity selections. This data set has been projected to the UTM13N/NAD83 coordinate system.Shapefile Format -To illustrate State Indemnity Selections Minerals for the State of ColoradoError Records: There are typically some LR2000 records for which we are not able to generate corresponding polygons, but in this case all of the selected land descriptions were successfully converted to GIS features.
